A collection of resources targeted at enhancing the teaching of maths at A Level

I have organised these resources using the OCR scheme, so schools using other boards may have to do a little digging around to match up the resources to your scheme, but fingers crossed this shouldn't be too hard.

Please note: I have avoided putting lots of PowerPoint lesson plans on these pages and instead focused on materials that will hopefully support or enhance the main delivery of the lesson. On the links to the best websites in the world page I have provided links to brilliant websites which do offer a whole host of a level PowerPoint presentations.

Please look at the bottom of the page for a couple of technical issues!

Technical Issues

1. Excel
In order to use many of the interactive spreadsheets in this section, you must ensure Excel is correctly set up on your computer
(a) enable macros - go to tools > options > scrutiny> macro security and then ensure that it is set to medium. You will then be asked each time you open a spreadsheet whether you wish to enable macros, and just click yes!
(b) analysis toolpak - because the spreadsheets use fancy numerical functions, you need two add-ins installed. Go to tools > add-ins and make sure both analysis tool pak and analysis toolpak - vba are ticked.
You may then need to reopen the excel file for the changes to take place!

2. Extra Software
In order to view and use any of these resources, you must have the software installed on your computer.
That shouldn't matter for Office products such as PowerPoint, Excel and Word, but you may need to download software such as:
- Adobe Flash player (click to download for free)
- Tarsia JigSaw (click to download for free)
- Autograph (purchase)
- Geometer's Sketch Pad (purchase)

See the Essential Freebies and Software Tutorials sections for further help and information.
