Welcome to > parents

As I am sure you know, if parent's can get involved in their child's development of maths, then children's overall understanding and performance at school, as well as their confidence and enjoyment of the subject, can increase significantly. However, parents often tell me that they feel ill informed and distant from their child's learning of maths, or intimidated by whatever new maths they are being taught in schools these days. The aim of this section of the website is to put parents' minds at ease, and hopefully enable you to become more actively involved with your child's mathematical development.

In notes and examples: key stage 3 and 4, I have provided a link to a set of notes I have written for pupils from Year 7 right up to GCSE. I have tried to write the notes in a slightly different way to the textbooks, hopefully enabling pupils to gain a deeper understanding and to see that maths isn't so bad after all.

The other four sections offer up some excellent free resources, ideas and advice for helping children enjoy studying maths at home, because the more they enjoy it, the better they will get, I promise.

In the Pupils section of the website (just click here), I have also offered up some Top Revision and Exam Tips to hopefully help your child get through what can often be a painful time, and in What Use is Maths? I have attempted to answer the question that I never tire of hearing...
