Mr
Barton is a Maths teacher at Range
High School in Formby (near Liverpool) who is currently
enjoying a one year secondment in sunny Australia. Setting up
and developing this website is one of Mr Barton's projects for
the year, as well as attempting to darken up his semi-skimmed
milk suntan. Mr Barton is a firm believer in the effective use
of ICT to enhance both the teaching and learning of maths, and
that there's no better resource than a free one, and these beliefs
very much form the ethos of the site.
As
well as teaching maths, Mr Barton also likes to do a bit of
writing, and his first novel The Cambridge
Diaries: A Tale of Friendship, Love and Economics was
released in 2006. It is a story of a young northern lad's first
year at Cambridge University and is very much based on Mr Barton's
own experiences (although Mr Barton's character in the book
is slightly funnier and has slightly more success with ladies
than the real-life version). Some might say that it is the perfect
read for anyone who is off to university, or who wants to know
what really goes on at university these days, but I couldn't
possibly comment on that. Reviews and more information can be
found by clicking on the picture on the left.
Whilst in Australia, Mr Barton has completed his next two
novels, and will look to release them when he returns to sunny
England later in the year. The frist is the tale of a family
at Chrsitmas, the members of whom all have something
to hide, and the second is a crime drama
(with a twist) set in a supermarket in Preston...

Over the past few years Mr Barton has written a maths inspired
soft rock anthem entitled "There's
More to Maths Than One Add One", appeared dressed
as Pythagoras in a respectable
Southport hotel, won the princely sum of £15 on the
BBC1 TV show Bargain Hunt whilst
dressed in a bow tie and sporting an awful haircut, and reached
the regional finals of the BT Phone
Kiosk Karaoke competition where he was unfortunately
knocked out by an 11 year old Celine Dion. These are just
some of the reasons he has had to flee these shores for Australia.
Mr Barton really hopes you enjoy looking around the site and
using the help and resources on offer. Any feedback, questions,
suggestions or multi-million pound donations via the contact
section would be welcomed with open arms.
